Halloween animatronics buying guide
Choose an Animatronic for the Space, Not Just the Scare
A moving prop works best when its size, activation, sound and viewing distance suit the exact place you will use it. Measure first and leave room for the full movement—not only the figure’s resting footprint.
Measure the complete operating area
Check height, width and depth against the product information, then allow additional clearance for arms, heads or bodies that move. Keep guests outside that operating area and do not place a moving prop where it blocks a door, stair or narrow hallway.
Plan power, sound and activation
Confirm the product’s power and activation requirements before setting up. Position cables against a wall and away from wet areas or walking routes. Sound that works in a large display may be overpowering in a small room, so test the complete sequence before visitors arrive.
Indoor, sheltered and outdoor use
Do not assume a prop is weatherproof because its character looks suitable for a garden. Follow the individual instructions and keep powered products dry unless explicitly rated otherwise. A sheltered entrance can deliver a better, more reliable scare than an exposed lawn.
Storage after Halloween
Keep the box, supports and assembly instructions. Clean the prop only as directed, let every part dry and store it without crushing fabric, wires or mechanisms. Photograph cable and support positions during setup to make next year easier.
Common questions
Can I leave a Halloween animatronic outside?
Only when the product instructions explicitly allow the intended conditions. Powered props should otherwise be kept dry and brought inside when not in use.
How much room should I leave around a moving prop?
Use the complete movement envelope shown by the product, not only its resting dimensions, and keep the guest route outside that area.
